Frequently Asked Questions

These should get you started. Still unsure?

Services are typically billed at $100 to $125 per hour. The rate covers the work involved, including research and documentation, and when travel is required it also includes up to 15 miles within the Richmond area. If a case may involve extra costs, those will be explained clearly before anything begins. Your consultation is always free.

Time varies with the complexity of the situation. Some matters can be addressed with only a few hours of active work, while larger cases may require more. After your consultation, you will receive a realistic timeline so you know what to expect before making a decision.

Clients include attorneys, insurance professionals, estate representatives, political teams, and private individuals who need help making sense of something. If you are looking for documentation, structure, or verification rather than drama or confrontation, you are probably in the right place.

Lowlight Services focuses on civil investigations, property & casualty insurance file reviews, genealogical tracing, and background research. Some personal matters may qualify, especially when they involve legal, financial, or documented outcomes. If you are unsure whether your situation fits, reach out and we can talk it through.

Yes. The initial consultation is a short (10-15 minutes), no-pressure conversation to figure out if your case is a good fit. There is no commitment required, and you will get honest feedback about what is possible.

Yes. Many services, including file reviews and research-based work, are available to clients anywhere in the United States (where State Law allows). On-the-ground investigations are currently focused in Central Virginia and surrounding areas, though travel can be arranged when needed.

Absolutely. All case details, documents, and communication are handled discreetly and securely. No information is shared without written consent, and your privacy is taken seriously from the very first contact.

Yes, when appropriate. Some cases require documentation only. Others may lead to formal testimony. If your matter has the potential to go to court, that will be discussed at the outset and planned accordingly.

Thank you! Your request has been received and will be reviewed within 1-2 business days. We will follow up after the review, whether or not your matter is a fit for our services. If we are able to move forward, we will also include next steps for scheduling a consultation. We appreciate your patience in the meantime.
